Public Awareness
One in every 330 children in the United States develops cancer by the age of 19. Each year cancer kills more children between one and 20 years of age than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, and AIDS, combined.
Building Public Awareness
The Michael Hoefflin Foundation works to build public awareness of childhood cancer in the Santa Clarita and surrounding valleys. Through informative materials, community events and public speaking engagements, we bring attention to this underserved cause. Through partnerships with educators, nurses and doctors, it is our goal to reach every family in need.
Our Telly Award-winning video Where There is Hope takes an in-depth look into the lives of families dealing with pediatric cancer, and is available upon request, as is our second video Hope, Help and Healing.
Educating Families
The Foundation also provides educational resources to equip families to manage their children’s care. Resources include literature about each type of childhood cancer, information about community services, and materials to help parents meet their children’s unique schooling needs during and after treatment for cancer.
